Voices from Chernobyl: The Oral History of a Nuclear Disaster

Voices from Chernobyl: The Oral History of a Nuclear Disaster - Swietłana Aleksijewicz, Keith Gessen It took me a long time to read this because it was so brutal, but it was exceptionally well written and put together. I really liked the progression of stories told in it, and how well she captured her subjects and compiled them. It really did feel like a huge discordant chorus of voices.

I would have liked a little more factual information in the translator's introduction, as I was two when the reactor failed, and had never really heard what happened, and the book picks up after the fires start.
